The Gender Studies program centres on an interdisciplinary study of recent developments in feminist theory and on feminist critiques of existing disciplines, with an emphasis on a critical feminist engagement with Eurocentrism in gender studies. We have a particular focus on the Asia-Pacific region.

Our courses can enhance qualifications in the humanities, the social sciences and other disciplinary areas. Graduates from the Gender Studies program are now employed in such areas as education, social policy, equal opportunity, in non-governmental organizations and as consultants. The MA Gender Studies (Gender and Development) - to be Master of Development Studies (Gender and Development) from 2008 - is specifically for those who seek employment in gender and development policy and planning.
