Environmental Studies Undergraduate Major

Course and Subject Handbook

Environmental Studies can be taken as an undergraduate major in Arts (Bachelor of Arts (BA) or a co-major with a second science major in Science (Bachelor of Science) and as a minor sequence in many interdisciplinary programs such as Asian Studies, Australian Studies, Development Studies and Australian Indigenous Studies.

To enrol in the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree, you need to meet the relevant Faculty admission requirements (for details see the University of Melbourne Undergraduate Studies Handbook, the VTAC Guide, or the Faculty Office). There are no other prerequisites for Environmental Studies and you do not need to have studied Environmental Studies before.

 

Requirements for a major

A major in environmental studies usually consists of nine 12.5-point subjects, totalling 112.5 points. It comprises:

  • two first-year subjects from the list below (25 points); and
  • second/third-year subjects in environmental studies totalling 87.5 points.
