Anthropology Honours
Entrance requirements:
As well as meeting the Arts Faculty entrance requirements, students should have a School application form signed off by a member of the Anthropology Program staff. It should also be noted that average grades required for entry may be higher than the faculty requirement if more students apply than we can accomadate.
Prerequisites:
The prerequisites for entry to fourth-year honours in Anthropology are:
- completion of all the requirements for the BA;
- completion of a major in Anthropology;
- an average of H2A or higher over the second/third-year subjects within the major.
Application procedure:
Applications for honours entry are made via the University of Melbourne on-line application system available at https://sis.unimelb.edu.au/cgi-bin/course-application.pl.
After submitting application details via the web, your application must be printed and lodged, with any necessary attachments, at the Faculty of Arts Office preferably by 31 October (for semester one entry) or 31 May (for semester two entry). However late applications until the beginning of semester may be considered. For further details go to: http://www.arts.unimelb.edu.au/futurestudents/applying.htm
Please contact the Anthropology Honours coordinator regarding specific requirements within our School - Dr Tamara Kohn . You will need to include a 300-word research proposal with the application that you submit to the Arts Faculty. This proposal must be approved and signed by the Honours Coordinator and by your proposed supervisor BEFORE you attach it to your application. Use the SSEE Honours Research Proposal form for this.
